The Quest For The Unknown [A Search for Extra-terrestrial Life Form]

        Is anyone out there? The idea that intelligent life exists outside our solar system has always seemed to intrigue people. Considering the fact that the universe was born 13 billion years ago from the big bang while our Solar system was born mere 4 billion years ago and humans came into existence in the past 10,000 years(intelligent humans), it doesn’t sounds wrong to buy the idea that there is indeed some ancient civilization of a much ancient star present in the cosmos. Hmm……. Sounds pretty scary.

Till date there are a few incidents relating to extraterrestrial life forms a.k.a aliens. But none is as famous as the Roswell UFO incident.

Roswell UFO incident (1947):People claimed the fallen debris that was found at Roswell (presently a city in Georgia, USA) was a spacecraft that crash-landed on earth. Newspaper reports termed it as a flying disc.

However, the military reported that it was merely weather balloon. They waved it off ,stating that a  United States Army Forces balloon crashed at the Ranch. The matter was initially closed until researchers took interest in the incident. They accused the military for covering up such important event with false reports of weather balloon. Even some rumors circulated about the extra terrestrial life forms being as a hostage under the military.

To clear the clouds the USA military revealed that the crash landing balloon was nothing but a nuclear test surveillance balloon from Project Mogul in 1990s.

Though it was proved that the Roswell incident was a sham, the Roswell incident is being retold time and again and inspires the search for extra terrestrial life forms.

Rendlesham Forest incident: This UFO incident as the name sounds took place in rendlesham forest in England. This incident has been dubbed as the Britain's Roswell.

December 1980: A group of officers claimed that they saw streaks of light emerging from the sky out of nowhere while they were patrolling near the rendlesham forest (wheeeee… shooting stars?). According to them these lights landed on the surface when they decided to check it out. They saw a glowing disc emitting reddish green light which scared of the animals near-by. As they moved towards it, it came closer and disappeared as if trying to communicate.

The following day their deputy commander visited the area to review the incident and he too like others saw the streaks of light. The event was discarded as it posed no national threat.

Hexagonal Vortex on Saturn: A huge hexagon on the top of Saturn is the last thing you would like to see. After all the whole Interstellar movie is based upon it. The hexagonal shape observed on the north pole of Saturn is not a structure but in fact it is formed due to the swirling wind blowing across Saturn. The interesting thing is that these winds blows in such a dynamic way they form a perfect hexagonal shape on the top of Saturn.

This hexagonal cloud pattern was first discovered by NASA's Voyager and later NASA's Cassini spacecraft confirmed its existence when it closely observed the planet. Some thought of it as a go-through into another galaxy while others defined that it could possibly hold the time-travel mechanism which might be dropped by advanced extra terrestrial life form.

A number of experiments were conducted to prove the hexagonal vortex. For example, water swirling inside a bucket can generate whirlpools possessing holes with geometric shapes. However, there is of course no giant bucket on Saturn holding this gargantuan hexagon.

Now researchers have developed a model which matches the hexagon's features better than previous attempts.

Super Void: Super void is nothing but um……. it really is nothing. Indeed the super void describes a large space in the space (whatever that means) containing hugely less number of stars and galaxies than the rest of the space. It lacks as much as 10,000 galaxies which is nearly 10 trillion stars. Also it is significantly colder than the rest of the space. Hence this is also known as the cold spot. This type of area indicates an existence of a TYPE-III CIVILIZATION. Though this area is thought as a result of low distribution of cosmic background radiation, it still stays a mystery.

These stories don’t provide a solid proof of the existence of aliens. If there are aliens humans must be in touch with them, instead our telescopes show stars with their empty planets. So where are all of them. This leads us to the famous ''Fermi Paradox.''

THE FERMI PARADOX:

Fermi Paradox named after the physicist Enrico Fermi is a question or rather say a paradox related to extra terrestrial life form. The topic was that if there are billions of stars and galaxies formed before our own sun, atleast 1% of them must sustain life. If this is the case then such a life must be quite intelligent and have already mastered space-time travel. They will atleast make an attempt to communicate with us. Also, there must be billions of such civilizations. So where are they? This was the famous question asked by Fermi which was later coined as The Fermi Paradox.

Many interesting solutions or rather say hypothesis are given for this paradox. We will discuss them in the next article…………
